BioXS International is exclusief distributeur voor de Benelux geworden van het Deense SMS Passcode.  Hiermee zorgt deze leidinggevende distributeur van biometrische toegangssystemen voor een uitbreiding van haar assortiment. SMS Passcode biedt organisaties van elk formaat een eigen, eenvoudig te installeren gateway om unieke one-time passwords naar mobiele telefoons te verzenden. SMS Passcode is daarmee een veilig en goedkoper alternatief voor RSA- tokens. 

“Het idee van het versturen van een eenmalig wachtwoord per SMS is niet nieuw, “ licht directeur Reinier van der Drift van BioXS toe. “Dit soort oplossingen liep echter altijd via een serviceprovider en daar zit niet iedere ondernemer op te wachten. Met SMS Passcode heeft men voor het eerst alles in eigen hand. Daarnaast is deze oplossing veel veiliger omdat het time- en session based is en wachtwoorden worden gegenereerd op basis van FIPS-140. Organisaties die voor meerdere modems en servers kiezen, hebben daarbij gelijk de veiligheid van loadbalancing en fail-over bescherming.”

Een groot aantal bedrijven en non-profit organisaties realiseert zich dat het zich authenticeren op maar één manier per definitie onveilig is. Om een zekere mate van beveiliging te garanderen wordt vaak een combinatie van token en wachtwoord gebruikt. Tokens hebben echter het nadeel dat werknemers deze kunnen vergeten en dat de uitgifte en de vervanging bij verlies hoge kosten met zich meebrengt.  “Iedereen is per definitie zuiniger op zijn eigen mobieltje dan op een token. Elke beheerder weet hoe duur een vergeten token is of een wachtwoord dat is vergeten,” legt Van der Drift uit. “SMS Passcode heeft in dat opzicht dan ook een veel voordeliger TCO en biedt gemak voor zowel beheerder als gebruiker.”

Het installeren van SMS Passcode betekent niet meer dan het installeren van de serversoftware en het aansluiten van de SMS Gateway. De software maakt daarbij direct contact met de Active Directory

SMS Passcode is eenvoudig te integreren in verschillende omgevingen waaronder de Citrix web interface, Citrix Access Gateway, Cisco and Juniper VPN, Websites, Outlook Web Access (OWA, ISAPI), GINA for protection of Microsoft Terminal Server en Windows XP. De volgende besturingssystemen worden ondersteund: Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003. Microsoft NET 2.0 Framework is nodig.

The plan is taking shape following international criticism of a separate government campaign to single out Gypsies, including children, for mandatory fingerprinting. The House of Deputies finance commission, as part of its work on the threeyear 20092011 national budget law, gave the goahead to funding for fingerprinting starting in 2010 for those getting Italian identity cards for the first time or renewing ones that have expired.
